Octavius Infrastructure has recently completed the Access for All (AfA) project at Motspur Park Station entry into service, in doing so enhancing accessibility for all passengers, particularly those travelling with children and/or disabilities. The project incorporated a new covered footbridge, providing step free access to the central platform via lifts or stairs from both sides of the station, with three new lifts located in the narrow island platform. The upgrade also included a new ticket office, lighting, security cameras and canopy works.
The Access for All programme, supported by Network Rail in partnership with the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and local councils, seeks to remove obstacles and provide an accessible route into stations and between platforms. Octavius currently has £65 million in Access for All (AfA) projects in various stages of development, from design to construction and service entry, furthering its work in creating accessible and inclusive transport solutions across the UK. This project marks the third completed project within this current AfA work bank following the completion of Isleworth, Walton on Thames AfA projects with Barnes, Stoneleigh, Farnborough North and Grays stations currently in construction.
Isayas Tecleberhan, Framework Director for Rail said “It is always a huge satisfaction seeing these projects completed and brought into passengers’ benefit, providing much needed inclusivity into the communities. Massive congratulations to all involved in making this reality.”
