Octavius Infrastructure is proud to announce that the company has been appointed as a key delivery partner in the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) for Network Rail, who are the Minor Works Delivery Partner for the SRE.

Octavius were successful in securing Lot 1 – Buildings Reactive Generalist for CP7 and CP8 with an expected value over the CP7 period of £155m-£230m. The framework includes reactive and planned maintenance of buildings assets, as well as small renewals projects, for the Southern Region covering the Kent, Sussex and Wessex Routes. Working collaboratively with both Network Rail and the other successful Building and Civils Minor Works delivery partners is essential to ensure we harness the collective efficiency, innovation and resource to deliver true value to the travelling public.

Minor works are the backbone of keeping the railway safe and reliable for passengers and freight. For Network Rail, enlisting reliable partner organisations, like Octavius, will ensure swift action on urgent repairs and maintenance, leading to happy customers, improved safety and a positive sustainable infrastructure legacy.

Matt Smith, Managing Director Rail at Octavius Infrastructure said, “I am delighted we have been appointed to the Generalist Role for Buildings Reactive Maintenance. This builds on our legacy of successfully delivering reactive buildings maintenance for Network Rail in the Southern Region for nearly 30 years. This is testament to the passion and commitment of our people who undertake this critical work, working around the clock, to safely maintain the assets for the travelling public to utilise. The team are focussed on continuous improvement to drive innovation into how they deliver reactive maintenance. Key focus areas are response time, digitalisation, health, wellbeing and reducing environmental impact.”

He continues, ” Over the last 3 years, analysis of our carbon emissions has identified vehicle movements to and from reactive work sites as the biggest contributor to our carbon impact, so we have made it a priority to minimise this. Our Green Travel Plan provides options for alternative low carbon travel to lessen our environmental impact and we have targeted a 50% reduction in carbon emissions from travel between 2021 and 2026. In addition we are committed to zero waste to landfill, ensure that we have zero environmental incidents and commit 60 volunteering days supporting social value and the communities we work in.”
