Octavius has progressed the first phase of improvements to the Baiter Park waterfront area in Poole Dorset.
The Octavius Regional Civil Engineering team has completed 650m of new cycleway to provide more sustainable green travel options for connecting people across the communities of Poole and Bournemouth. In addition to the new cycleway, the existing promenade and community spaces have been resurfaced along with improvements to provide greater public accessibility to those with impaired mobility.
Ben Race Lead Commercial Manager at Octavius Regional Engineering commented “What is especially pleasing about this project is the immense collaborative effort that has gone into ensuring that as much of the existing materials arising from the improvement works have been retained and reused in the finished work. All of which has reduced costs, avoided transport movements, minimised carbon and disruption to residents and businesses.
It has been possible to reuse all the excavated materials, timber groins, use recycled fencing. Granite materials retained at BCP own storage facility were incorporated into the design.
We are delighted through projects like this we can play our part in BCP’s vision to be a place where people, nature, coast and towns come together in sustainable, safe and healthy communities.”
