Principal contractor Octavius Infrastructure will soon start important accessibility upgrade works at Motspur Park Station, in south London as part of Network Rail’s £8.9m investment in the key commuter route, which will see a new step-free bridge, lifts and walkways installed amongst other upgrades.

To help passengers with reduced mobility travel around the station easily, the new covered step-free footbridge will replace the existing structure to allow full access to lifts, stairs and to the central platforms. Additional works to help improve security in the station include new lighting and security cameras on and around the lifts and bridge.

Work is expected to commence on the scheme at the end of March/early April 2023, with the footbridge expected to be completed and open to passengers in Spring 2024. The scheme is the latest investment by Network Rail as part of the Government’s Access for All (AfA) programme, funded by the Department for Transport (DfT).
